The S500 Supermarine was Bremont’s first marine watch released back in 2009. Taking its name from the iconic British aircraft manufacturer responsible for the incredible ‘Supermarine Spitfire’ and the ‘Supermarine S.6B’ seaplane (That featured on the caseback). Being a brand famous for its pilot’s watches, Co-Founders Nick and Giles English wanted to create a very effective divers watch with a classical and aviation design. Delving into the crowded, professional divers watch market, the two brothers knew that the S500 Supermarine had to compete and hold its own in the terms of engineering, design and price point. Using Bremont’s unique Trp-Tick® three-piece case, the S500 Supermarine could withstand impressive depths of up to 500m (1660ft) firmly cementing Bremont’s place in this exclusive sector. Nine years since its initial break through, 2018 will see the release of the new line to the collection, the Bremont S501 Supermarine.
Following the newly updated S500 models, the new S501 model continues the theme of a simplified dial layout, only adding more of a vintage styling. A thermometer style tip, filled with Super-LumiNova® features on the graceful sweeping seconds hand. The cream bezel indications, hour indexes and sword shaped hour and minute hands are also filled with the extremely legible Super-LumiNova®. The black sapphire uni-directional rotating bezel sits upon the specially designed stainless steel Bremont Trp-Tick® case, measured at 43mm in diameter and coated in the scratch resistant DLC (Diamond-like Carbon). The crown on the Supermarine models are located outside of the 2 o’clock position, rather than the standard 3 o’clock, like many other watches. An integrated helium escape valve for saturation diving, can be found on the left side of the casing. Finally, the S501 Supermarine is situated on the vintage brown leather strap, continuing the distinguished design and appeal.
The new exhibition case back reveals the BE-92AE automatic chronometer, vibrating at 28,800 beats per hour. Supplying the Bremont S501 Supermarine with an excellent 38-hour power reserve.
